We talk for fifteen minutes.
What you’re protecting, who depends on the income, and what you can commit to monthly. No exam, no application, no commitment.
§ Life Insurance Products & Financial Strategy
Independent life insurance guidance to help you find the right coverage for your family, goals, and budget.
As an independent broker, I work on your side to shop eight of the nation’s biggest insurance carriers to get you the best policy at the best price.
Coverage for families protecting an income. Cash-value strategy for people who have already filled the other buckets. Final expense plans for parents who don’t want the bill landing on their kids.
§ 01 Why independent
Appointed, not employed
I hold appointments with eight carriers. None of them sets my quota or tells me what to recommend.
Underwriting varies
The same health history gets priced differently at every carrier. Shopping it is the whole job.
Licensed and appointed
Arizona, Wisconsin, South Carolina, and Arkansas. I only write where the license and the appointment are both active.
No fee to look
Comparing options costs nothing. If nothing fits, I’ll say so and we’re done.
§ 02 How it works
01
What you’re protecting, who depends on the income, and what you can commit to monthly. No exam, no application, no commitment.
02
Your situation runs through the carriers I’m appointed with. You get real premiums with the tradeoffs explained, not a range.
03
We submit to the carrier that fits. I handle underwriting questions and follow it until the policy is in force. Every application is subject to that carrier’s approval.
§ 03 Coverage
Product availability varies by state and by carrier. Everything below is subject to underwriting.
Permanent
A fixed premium, a level death benefit, and cash value that builds on a schedule the carrier puts in writing. For people who want the number to stop moving.
Cash value
Permanent coverage where cash value tracks an index within a cap and a floor. For higher earners who have already filled the qualified buckets and want another one.
No exam
Health questions instead of a medical exam, and a decision in days rather than weeks. Useful when time or needles are the obstacle.
Seniors
A smaller permanent policy sized to a funeral and the last round of bills, so the cost does not land on your children.
Retirement income
Converting a lump sum into scheduled income, including options that pay for the rest of your life. Terms and rates are set by the carrier contract.
Riders
Riders that let you draw part of the death benefit while you are alive after a qualifying diagnosis. Availability and terms vary by carrier and state.
§ 04 Book
Fifteen minutes, by phone or video. Bring your age, your health history in rough terms, and what you’d want the policy to cover.
— Messaging disclosure
By providing your phone number when you book, you agree to receive text messages from Thomas James Strategy about the coverage you requested, including appointment confirmations and reminders. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any product or service. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
§ 05 Questions
Often no. Several carriers I work with decide on health questions and database checks alone. A paramed exam usually buys a better rate when you’re healthy, so we weigh it against how fast you want coverage in force.
Start with the obligations that don’t disappear: the mortgage balance, the years of income your household depends on, and what you’d want set aside for education. We total those, subtract what you already have, and the gap is the number.
Premium is priced on age, health, coverage amount, and product type, so there is no honest single answer. What I can tell you is that the quote I bring back is the real premium from the carrier, and that comparing costs you nothing.
Whole life trades upside for certainty: the premium and the schedule are set by contract. An IUL trades certainty for participation in index performance inside a cap and a floor, and it needs funding discipline to work as designed. Which one fits depends on whether you want a fixed obligation or a flexible one.
Frequently, yes, and this is where an independent broker earns their keep. Diabetes, a cardiac history, and treated cancer are all priced very differently across carriers. I place the file with the one whose underwriting reads your history most favorably. Approval is always the carrier’s decision.
A captive agent represents one company and can only offer that company’s products. I hold appointments with eight and put them next to each other. Same conversation, more shelves.
Simplified issue products can come back in a few days. Fully underwritten cases with an exam and medical records typically run three to six weeks. If timing matters, we choose the product with that in mind from the start.
Permanent policies build cash value you can borrow against or withdraw under the terms of the contract. Both reduce the death benefit while the money is out, and a poorly managed loan can put the policy at risk. It’s a real feature with real mechanics, and we walk through them before you sign.
Provisions that let you draw part of your own death benefit early after a qualifying diagnosis, such as a terminal, chronic, or critical illness. Whether they’re included, what triggers them, and what they cost varies by carrier and by state.
§ 06 Message
I answer these myself, usually the same day.
